Visual Inspiration: Part 1

One of my favorite studios who puts together aesthetically pleasing shorts is located near my place in Vancouver.  Giant Ant is an agency that creates animation for marketing promotions and animation studios alike. Their relatively small team creates very stylized shorts that have a strong graphic design influence that I find I also emulate in my work.

Their film about the COVID-19 pandemic is what inspired my to think about creating mine. Their film is a good deal more complicated than I’m planning for mine given the time restriction and experience level , but I’m linking it here as visual inspiration because I think it’s a beautiful little film. I’d like to capture a similar feeling of melancholy that I think Giant Ant does very well in this film.

In their own words:

“We made a short. It’s not long.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned in 2020, it’s that things are hard… and that we’re in it together.”
