Blender: 3D model environment

For the purposes of this assignment, I’m going to be reflecting on my experience during COVID-19 as a short film, or maybe more accurately a series of short gifs set to music that I hope will reflect the mood and experience of living alone during the pandemic.

To speed up some of my progress I’m going to be 3D modeling my living-space in Blender. Once the basic blocks are in when I’m boarding my shots I can take screencaps of the 3D environment and draw/paint/animate over top. This will save me time in blocking out shots as well as ensuring my perspective is the way I’d like it to be. This also allows me to spend the bulk of my time on painting and design instead of technical drawing or having to compromise difficult shots due to time.

For this area of the project I’ll be submitting my full 3D model for grading as an asset and I’ll be modeling it myself. I will be using filler furniture from CG trader for some of the more complex assets taht I don’t wish to sculpt myself. (all royalty free, as placeholder for the drawings.)

This is the first physical asset I’m creating for the project and hope to close it out mostly by the end of the week, so I have my stage set and I can focus on my narrative arc and shot design and planning while I’m on vacation next week.
